So, we are about a quarter of the way thru the NBA season and there is plenty to talk about. So I hear by give you the first Quarter Report Card
We all expected the Celtics and Lakers to be this good, but who would have thought the Cavs would be this dominant? Not only are they fighting atop the Eastern Conference with the likes of the Celtics, but it’s the Fashion that they are doing it in. They’re 13-0 at home, LeBron is only playing 35.1 minutes per game and they are blowing teams out on a nightly basis. My question for you is….is Mo Williams that much of a difference? I sure as hell didn’t think so, but apparently it was enough for the Cavs.

The slow start for the Hornets has surprised many. This team was pegged to challenge the Lakers for a spot to represent the West in the NBA finals, but with 2 losses to Portland and a narrow loss to Charlotte last month, have the Hornets sitting at 12-7. Chris Paul is certainly doing his part, starting the year of with 7 games of 20 or more points and 10 or more assists; however lack of depth is what is killing the Hornets. Players like James Posey, Tyson Chandler and Morris Peterson all averaging fewer than 9 points a game and besides that, there really isn’t and relevant names coming off the bench.
The lackluster performances from the Toronto Raptors have many people wondering if Jermaine O’Neal was the answer to all their problems. He has yet to find his groove in a Toronto uniform and it’s starting to show in the loss column for the Raps. They have already fired their Head Coach and their perimeter defense is the worst in the NBA. Bryan Colangelo has gone on record saying this is the best team he has put together in Toronto, but unless things turn around, people are going to start to wonder if the Raptors were over-hyped.
The Spurs got off to a slow start at 1 – 4 , with injuries sidelining 2 of their major players in Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. It was inevitable that it was going to be a tough start for the Spurs, but since November 28th with their top 3 players in the lineup, they are 6-2 and look to continue to rise atop the West.
